The Hebrew months
The Torah counts Nisan, the month of the Exodus, as the first month. The year itself is counted from Tishrei, which is why Rosh Hashanah is in the seventh month.
Today is 20 Tishrei 5787. In a leap year there are two months of Adar. The first is called Adar I and has 30 days. The second is called Adar II, and Purim is kept in it.
