Lifecycles

Celebrate a lifecycle event with your San Jose Jewish community. No membership required — every Jew is a member.

Baby naming

Mazal tov, it's a girl! The naming happens at synagogue on a Monday, Thursday, or Shabbat — as soon after the birth as possible — followed by a celebratory brunch.

Brit Milah

Mazal tov, it's a boy! Our mohel performs the ceremony at your home or our synagogue, on the baby's 8th day, followed by a brunch.

Pidyon Haben

The redemption of a firstborn son, thirty days after birth — a five-minute ceremony followed by a brunch, at your home, the Rabbi’s home, or synagogue.

Upsherin

A boy's first haircut, traditionally on his third Jewish birthday — a festive gathering with family and community.

Bar & Bat Mitzvah

Lessons typically begin about six months before the big day. When the time comes, we’ll help you plan a beautiful celebration at Chabad.

Ufruf

On the Shabbat before a wedding, the groom receives an aliyah and the congregation celebrates with a special Kiddush.

Wedding

From the studying to the officiating, we’ll help make your day magical.

Birthday

At home or at synagogue — we’re happy to study the meaning of your day and celebrate together.

Yartzeit

We'll help arrange a minyan to say Kaddish, with a l'chaim in honor of your loved one.

Illness or difficulty

A visit, a word of encouragement, some warm matzah ball soup — just call.

End of life

We’ll walk you through every step — the Rabbi, the funeral home, the kosher casket — with care.

If someone has died

Call us, at any hour: 408-910-2034. We will help with the funeral home, the Rabbi, the kosher casket, a minyan and meals during shiva. There is nothing to arrange first and nothing to fill in.

Kaddish and mourning · Burial and cremation · Yizkor
