The shul

The aim is that nobody leaves without one new thing — an insight, a reason, some part of the heritage that makes more sense than it did. That happens by making the prayers interactive and explained rather than performed, by teaching in a range of subjects through the year, and by treating questions, including awkward ones, as the point rather than an interruption.
This is a Shul where people know each other and turn up for each other — in joy, in loss, and in the ordinary weeks in between. Kiddush after services, pre-holiday programming, and a general habit of noticing when somebody hasn't been around are most of how that gets built.
Children are a center of attention rather than a noise to be managed, and the room is set up that way on purpose. There is programming that makes the holidays and the service something they look forward to, and nobody will look at you sideways if a toddler is loud during the Amidah.
