Shmurah matzah
Shmurah matzah is matzah made from wheat that has been watched from the moment it was harvested to make sure no moisture reached it. It's baked by hand, round rather than square, and it is what many people use for the Seder itself — for the three matzahs on the Seder plate, and for the pieces everyone eats.
We order it in for the community every year. Place your order well before the holiday — the bakeries run out, and shipping takes time. Passover begins the night of Wednesday, April 21, 2027 this year, so work backwards from there.

The Kids Matzah Factory
18… 17… 16… can you bake that matzah before the dough rises? The Kids Matzah Factory is a hands-on session where children cut, thresh, and grind wheat into flour, then race the clock to mix, punch, roll, and bake matzahs of their own to take home. From farmer to baker, all of it, in under eighteen minutes.
There's a matzah presentation along the way, and every child leaves with an authentic handmade matzah they made themselves.
It runs in the weeks before Passover at the Chabad House, 5580 Almaden Expressway, San Jose. Call or email to find out when this year's session is and to put your child's name down.
