Lulav & etrog

Order your own set of the four kinds for Sukkot.

Order before

Friday, September 25, 2026

Sukkot begins that evening, and the sets have to be bound and here before it starts — so get your order in a few weeks ahead, not the week of.

The four kinds

One of the observances of Sukkot is taking the four kinds: an etrog (citron), a lulav (palm frond), three hadassim (myrtle twigs), and two aravot (willow twigs). Before the holiday the hadassim and aravot are bound to the lulav, so that the four are held together.

They're held and waved during the morning prayers on each of the seven days of Sukkot, except on Shabbat. Four different plants, held as one — the traditional reading is that this is a picture of the Jewish people.

You don't need to come to services to do it. A set at home means anyone in the house can take the mitzvah when they want to. If you've never done it and aren't sure how, ask us — it takes two minutes to show you.

Ordering a set

We bring in sets each year and you collect yours here. Cost per set is $45.00. You'll get an email when your order is ready to pick up from the Chabad House, 5580 Almaden Expressway, San Jose.

Use the form below and tell us how many sets you want and a phone number to reach you on, or call 408-910-2034.

Also for Sukkot: come sit in our sukkah, and what the holiday is about.
