Yizkor

Have a prayer said for your loved ones.

Yizkor is the memorial prayer said in synagogue for parents and close relatives who have passed. It is recited four times a year, as part of the morning service. You come, you stand, the names are read, and you are among people who understand why you came.

When it is said

The memorial booklet

We print a Yizkor memorial booklet for the service. Any name sent in is read at the service, and appears in the booklet handed out that morning. A name stays on our list from year to year, so you only need to send it once. If you would like a name taken off, tell us.

Send a name

No charge, and nothing else is asked of you. If you only have an English name, send that — it has never stopped anybody being remembered.

Many people give Tzedakah in memory of a parent at this time of year. That is entirely separate from sending a name, and one does not depend on the other — give here if you would like to.
