Tamim Preschool
Questions parents ask
The things that come up most often, answered plainly.
Should my child bring their own snacks and lunch?
No. Healthy snacks and lunches are served to all students during school hours — home-cooked, and included in tuition. If your child has an allergy or a dietary restriction, tell us before the first day so we can plan around it.
How are birthdays celebrated at the Gan?
Birthdays are celebrated during school hours. Contact the director to arrange your child’s celebration and to sort out the details.
What does a typical day look like?
Each day is planned to most effectively help the students discover their own abilities, with time for learning, play, and one another. Ask us for the sample daily schedule and we’ll send it to you.
Are electronics used during school time?
The preschool has a no-electronics policy. Staff keep their phones silenced and out of sight except in an emergency. We have a written screen time policy — ask and we’ll share it.
Does my child have nap time?
All students are encouraged to nap and refresh themselves during the hour after lunch, but no child is made to sleep. Older students who no longer nap may get individual instruction during that hour instead.
What kind of Jewish education will my child receive?
The preschool is open to Jews from all walks of life. Jewish holidays and themes run through the year — not as a subject to be tested on, but as something a child comes to feel at home in and proud of.
What is a Mitzvah Note?
Children bring in a note describing a good deed they did since they were last at school. The notes go up in the classroom, so the whole class sees what everyone has been doing for one another.
What is a Shabbos Imma or Abba?
Every Friday one child leads the Shabbat party and hands out the Shabbat treat to their friends. Over the school year, each child gets their turn.
